Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Lindon Emergency Management
Lindon City is offering free training to be part of the local Community Emergency Response Team - CERT.
- Educates about local hazards
- Trains in basic disaster response skills, like —
- Fire safety / extinguisher use
- Utilities shut-off
- Light search and rescue, carries, cribbing
- Team organization
- Disaster medical operations
- Life-saving rapid assessment and first-aid
This is a hybrid online and in-person skills training that takes a total of about 24 hours to complete.
Using what they've learned during training and exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
Participants should purchase and bring a CERT kit and PPE (personal protection equipment) with them during each in-person training. CERT kits can either be put together by buying what's needed on your own or a "one-size-fits-all" kit may be purchased through Lindon City for $40.

Individualized Protection Plan
Lindon Police Department
Lindon's Protection Plan is an individualized approach for parents, legal guardians, and spouses to assist Emergency Responders with loved ones that tend to wander or get lost, like those with Alzheimer's, Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, and Non-verbal communication.
Caregivers can complete a form with information that will be entered into a database and will help law enforcement when they arrive on-scene:
- identify their loved-one
- know places they might wander
- be aware of fears, triggers, medical conditions, calming methods, and safety concerns
Fill out this form if it applies to your or your loved-one: https://bit.ly/IndividualizedProtectionPlan
Additionally, we want to invite any Lindon City residents with exceptional needs, disability, or mental health descriptors to meet with us in a way appropriate for that individual.
- Maybe we give you a tour.
- Maybe we meet in a space filled with toys.
- Maybe the individual gets to take a quick ride in a police vehicle.
- You help us decide what's best.
We want the experience to be positive for you, so we can all get to know each other in a proactive, constructive way.
